I often surprise parents who harp upon their children about obeying the fourth commandment. My point is simple, if young people are to properly honor their parents then mothers and fathers must themselves be honorable. Fidelity to the Gospel and the Church in terms of morality, charity, and prayer are essential ways of witnessing to others, especially the youth. There are too many cafeteria Catholics regarding matters like abortion, artificial contraception, divorce/remarriage and missing Sunday Mass.
